Monero (XMR) support was announced today on South African bitcoin and cryptocurrency exchange iceCUBED-X. Starting today, users who have already registered with the exchange can deposit and withdraw XMR to and from their exchange accounts.
The iceCUBED-X (ICE³X)
team is scheduled to open up the XMR/BTC market for trading this Friday, April
27th, 2018. The XMR/ZAR market will go live on May 1st, 2018.
ICE³X is the first and
only cryptocurrency exchange in South Africa to support and list the Monero
token, which currently includes XMR/ZAR & XMR/BTC markets.
Monero and other
privacy coins have made some poised moves to the upside over the past couple of
weeks.
“iceCUBED-X offer seven
other cryptocurrencies and 14 markets in total. We believe that Monero is a
good addition to the exchange. It has a unique architecture, buzzing community
and most importantly, a well-resourced development model. In South Africa,
there is a dedicated cryptocurrency trading community. Cryptocurrency traders
say that they cannot economically trade cryptocurrencies outside of South
Africa at scale.”

Gareth Grobler, CEO of
ICE³X said
“We think Monero is
currently the most suitable coin to add to the exchange, because it is
fundamentally different from bitcoin, has a real-world use case and somehow
managed to stay more true to the “original idea” around which Bitcoin was
created. We continuously improve on balancing our users’ needs with a safe and
secure trading environment, and the addition of XMR has been on our roadmap for
a while now and we are keen to see the market response.”
